Transferring Google PR in redirected webpages

As businesses change and adapt to new technologies websites also need to change. Sometimes in website development this means having the need to use a new website folder structure, new file names, or even new scripting language (HTML, ASP, PHP, ASPX, etc). Although the benefits of making the change are easy to identify from a systems point of view, they could represent a major threat to search engine optimization and consequently to the website's bottom line results. The common solution for this situation is to place redirects on the old pages or on the server itself, so that the number of error pages is reduced.

There are several options available for a website or webpage redirect. However, in order to keep the existing Google PR and notify servers that your pages are now "different" you should consider using the 301 redirect method. This is the most recommended approach and can be performed at different levels of access.
