Why do you enjoy rock climbing? Rock climbing is great because it is both a mental and physical challenge. It helps to stay fit while forcing you to problem solve, plan routes, moves, and maneuvers.
If you had to have a pet: dog or cat? Dog, no question. Dogs offer great companionship and, throughout history, have proven to be a great support to human beings in general. Whether they are herding sheep or helping us to hunt, they are extremely useful and offer utilitarian value. But even if they aren't used for these things, they are awesome to just play with in a park. I can't say that about cats.

What is your favourite way to spend a Saturday?: Saturday is definitely catch-up-on-chores day, but if I could I would rather take my wife and two young daughters to Crescent Beach. We build sand castles, splash around, and end the day with fish and chips and ice cream. Family time is precious!
What fast food restaurant would you work for? McDonalds! I actually worked there when I was in high school and it taught me a lot about listening to the customer, how procedures and routine can produce consistent products, and what the inside of a Grimace costume smells like.

Favourite thing about your job: Writing and getting to learn new things every day. Ever since the third grade, I’ve always dreamed about having a career in writing, so getting to spend time writing every day is huge for me. I’m also extremely curious by nature, so I love the fact that there’s always something new to learn in the vast world of digital marketing.
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose? It’s a toss up between teleportation and the ability to time travel. Being able to teleport would mean being able to travel and see the world without spending a dime. But, on the other hand, having the ability to time travel would mean being able to read a thousand lifetimes of books, and I don’t know if anything in the world could be better than that.
What do you love about living in the Fraser Valley: Living in a place where you have the best of both urban and nature is amazing. There is always something to do, whether it’s going for a hike to explore the woods or seeing the latest movies with friends. Life is never really boring. Plus, I’ve always been a bit of a pluviophile, so it doesn’t get any better than living on the edge of a rainforest.
Nick is a jack-of-all-trades type marketer who likes to get his feet wet in every area of digital marketing. Favourite thing about your job: Every day I learn something new. It’s a great feeling when you get to leave work satisfied, knowing that you’re more knowledgeable about the industry than you were the day before. That learning stems from the incredible team at FirstPage and their willingness to invest in people development. The support and encouragement that I feel when I’m at work is unparalleled.
What drives you about long distance running? It allows me to see how far I can push myself both physically and mentally. Long distance running has taught me a lot about my stamina and perseverance. The only person I am competing against is myself and I like that.
As you have previously owned both a dog and a cat, what other animal would you own? A Grizzly Bear (hear me out).It would have to be one of those unique situations where it was a rescued cub that was incapable of surviving in the wild. Assuming that I had a big enough property and enough time to properly raise it, I would do it in a heartbeat. Believe it or not, there are people out there that have Grizzly Bears. It’s a bit of a stretch, but one can dream.

Favourite thing about your job: For most of my life, I knew that I wanted to be a writer, but I also really enjoy spending time with people and learning new things. That meant that, most of the time, my education and hobbies were pretty disjointed from my professional experience; however, this job allows me to get to know people from all kinds of backgrounds and I’m constantly learning about new industries, which really appeals to me. Getting to help people customize plans that work for them and seeing their satisfaction with our work is incredibly rewarding, and I also get to write and learn daily. It really is the best of all possible worlds.
What do you like to do when you aren't working? I absolutely love the wonderful world of outside. I also love my wife, daughter, and dog, and I like to take them on as many exploratory adventures as possible and find new trails, roads, and viewpoints wherever we go. I am a voracious reader and enjoy film, so even my lazy days tend to fill up pretty quickly with fun stuff.
What is your favourite food? I am a big fan of spicy food, but I am also a total wuss. It truly is a curse. My go-to cuisines are southern-style barbecue, Cajun, and Mexican.

What is your favourite pastime? Playing classics on whatever instrument I happen to grab on a whim. My dad is highly musical, so various lessons were easy to come by growing up. Usually my best friends are the ones that I can play or record music with, but I still like the ones that make the requests.
What sport did you play in high school? Tennis — track sounded way too hard (small high school = few spring sport options).
